With its densely-packed shaped and energenic colors it seems almost unjust that the work is hung in the hushed rooms of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. However, just as the Australian continent is a landscape writ as a map of songs for those who can read it, so this piece needs only the properly equipped eye to bring its story to hearing. Most viewers, though, will have to listen into an exquisite gap and grasp to imagine what words were spoken into and over the eucalyptus bark during its making.
